THE MOODY BLUES: BLESS THE WINGS

Llegamos al segundo viernes del mes de mayo, y hoy le toca el turno al segmento musical dedicado a una canción de The Moody Blues, mi segunda banda favorita de siempre. En este mes de aniversario, quise elegir un tema que estuviera a la altura de esta fecha especial y decidí incluir la muy hermosa canción del año 1991: “Bless The Wings (That Bring You Back)”. Escuché por primera vez este tema cuando llegó a mis manos el CD del álbum “KEYS OF THE KINGDOM”, y debo decir que me quedé encantado por su muy hermosa melodía, su impecable instrumentación, su estructura musical y sobre todo, por la muy buena interpretación de Justin Hayward, quien le pone todo el sentimiento posible. Además, el estilo del tema iba acorde con la línea musical del álbum donde estaba incluido, manteniendo la base melódica de su anterior producción musical, “SUR LA MER”, y con un sonido adaptado a la década del 90.

“Bless the Wings (That Bring You Back)” fue escrita por Justin Hayward y producida por Alan Tarney. Fue grabada en el Hit Factory London, y los arreglos estuvieron a cargo de la Anne Duddley Orchestra y Pro Arte Orchestra de Londres. Fue lanzada como segundo single del álbum “KEYS OF THE KINGDOM” el 1° de Agosto de 1991, aunque no llegó a rankear en los charts, pero fue muy popular entre los fans de la banda. Además, llegó a ser su último single en ser lanzado bajo el formato de disco de vinilo 45”, ya que sus siguientes singles serían solamente lanzado en el formato de CD. El tema contó con la participación de Andy Duncan en la batería y en la percusión. Finalmente, en lo que concierne a su performance en vivo, el tema fue incluido en el set list de las giras del “KEYS OF THE KINGDOM” entre 1991 y 1992. Han transcurrido casi 23 años desde su aparición y sigue siendo recordando por los fans de esta longeva banda, y además representa parte de lo que musicalmente crearon en la década del 90.
