LET YOUR HEART RULE YOUR HEAD: EL COUNTRY DE BRIAN

Llegamos al segundo lunes de este último mes del año, y como todo lunes queenero, toca presentar hoy el segmento musical dedicado a un tema solista y el día de hoy, tendremos un tema solista de Brian May, proveniente de su álbum “BACK TO THE LIGHT”: “Let Your Heart Rule Your Head”. Como señalé en el post que le dediqué al álbum “BACK TO THE LIGHT” (http://royaltrilogy.blogspot.com/2009/10/back-to-light-una-brillante-luz-musical.html), en setiembre de 1992, un amigo escocés me envió dicho álbum en cassette el mismo día que salió a la venta en UK y por correo certificado, y llegó a mis manos en una semana. Tras escucharlo, el álbum satisfizo totalmente mis expectativas y en el lado B estaba este tema, cuyo estilo era bastante country con un muy buen ritmo, y además hacía recordar con reminiscencia el gran tema “39” de QUEEN. Recuerdo que me gustó bastante la canción porque mostraba claramente la gran versatilidad musical que imperaba en el álbum “BACK TO THE LIGHT”.

“Let Your Heart Rule Your Head” fue escrita por Brian May y producida por Brian May y Justin Shirley-Smith. Fue grabada en 1988 en Allerton Hill y en Sarm Studios y contó con la participación de Geoff Dugmore en la batería. Gry Tibbs en el bajo, y Suzie O'List y Gill O'Donovan en los coros. Y en lo que concierne a su performance en vivo, fue incluida en el set list de la gira del “BACK TO THE LIGHT” por Europa y USA en 1993, en una especie de número country -después de “Love Of My Life”-, comenzando con un intro a capella del coro de “39” a cargo de Catherine Porter y Shelley Preston, que duraba un minuto, y luego se empalmaba con esta canción, en un momento bastante alegre y entusiasta, en donde sólo faltaba el sombrero de vaquero y un caballo. Para 1998, ya no fue incluida en la gira del “ANOTHER WORLD” y luego de ello, quedó encarpetada en el baúl de los recuerdos. Pero para eso éste blog para rescatar esas buenas canciones que así nomás no las escuchas en ningún lado. Con esta buena canción cerramos el 2014 para este segmento musical. Ya en el 2015 seguiremos disfrutando el segundo lunes de cada mes de buenos temas solistas de Freddie, Brian y Roger. Será hasta el lunes 5 de Enero. Hasta entonces.
