HACE 30 AÑOS (1986-XI)

Llegamos al tercer miércoles del mes de Julio, y me toca presentarte el segmento musical de 1986, hace 30 años, cuando el que escribe tenía 23 años. Para el día de hoy, he querido escoger para ti dos muy buenas canciones de dos grupos canadienses.

1.-  HEAVEN IN YOUR EYES (Loverboy).-  En la primera mitad de la década del 80, la banda canadiense Loverboy tuvo su momento de esplendor con hits como “Working For The Weekend”, “Hot Girls In Love” y “Lovin’ Every Minute Of It”. Ya en la segunda mitad de la década, su popularidad decaería, pero en 1986 tuvo el que sería su último hit, “Heaven In Your Eyes”. Era una bella balada, cuyo estilo era diferente al de sus anteriores hits, que destilaban rock por todos los poros. Me gustó por su bella melodía y la soberbia interpretación de Mike Reno. El tema fue escrito por Paul Dean, John M Dexter, Mae Moore y Mike Reno y producido por Don Simpson y Jerry Bruckheimer. Fue incluido en el soundtrack del taquillero film “Top Gun” y lanzado como single el 2 de Agosto de 1986, llegando al N° 12 en USA, según Billboard. 30 años después, siempre es grato recordar esta hermosa canción. 2.-  DON’T FORGET ME (WHEN I’M GONE) (Glass Tiger).-  En 1986 hubo un nuevo grupo canadiense que emergió en el firmamento musical, que fue Glass Tiger. Y su hit más exitoso fue “Don't Forget Me (When I'm Gone)”, un tema bastante rítmico y con un estilo bastante ochentero. Aquí recuerdo que se escuchó bastante en Radio Doble Nueve. La canción fue escrita por Glass Tiger y Jim Vallance y producida por Jim Vallance. En 1985, el grupo escogió a Jim Vallance para producir el álbum debut de Glass Tiger. En ese momento, Vallance era conocido como compositor y había escrito frecuentemente con Bryan Adams. Al respecto, el vocalista Alan Frew señaló en una entrevista: “El primer día que conocimos a Jim Vallance, él nos recogió del aeropuerto y para romper el hielo, nos preguntó qué estábamos escuchando. Era Tears For Fears. Fuimos a su casa y bebimos té y escuchamos algunos temas. Luego vino ‘Everybody Wants To Rule The World’ y nos gustó realmente la mezcla del ritmo. Así que fuimos al estudio y basados en esta mezcla del ritmo, escribimos ‘Don’t Forget Me (When I’m Gone)’. Primer día, primera canción”. Además, el tema cuenta con la participación de Bryan Adams en los coros. Fue lanzada como single principal del álbum “THE THIN RED LINE” en Enero de 1986, llegando al N° 2 en USA, según Billboard. Además fue N° 1 en Canadá por 2 semanas, N° 15 en Australia, N ° 17 en el USA Album Rock Tracks, N° 26 en Irlanda, N° 27 en Nueva Zelanda, N° 29 en UK, N° 30 en el USA Adult Contemporary Charts, N° 32 en Alemania y N° 40 en Holanda. Han pasado ya tres décadas y vale la pena escuchar este buen recuerdo. Disfrútalo.
