HACE 30 AÑOS (1986-XII)

Continuamos con el segmento musical de 1986 de este mes de Julio, hace 30 años, que iniciamos ayer y para el día de hoy, he querido escoger para ti dos buenas canciones de dos recordadas bandas norteamericanas.

1.-  WHY CAN’T THIS BE LOVE (Van Halen).-  Luego del gran éxito alcanzado por el álbum “1984” de Van Halen, su vocalista David Lee Roth se apartó de la banda para emprender una carrera en solitario. Y se generó expectativa por ver quién sería el nuevo vocalista, el cual llegaría a ser el rockero norteamericano Sammy Hagar. De allí, los fans esperaban lo que sería su nueva producción musical y lo primero que se escuchó fue el single “Why Can’t This Be Love”, un tema queme gustó bastante por su ritmo bien rockero y con bastante fuerza y energía, destacando la voz de Hagar. El tema fue escrito por Eddie Van Halen, Michael Anthony, Sammy Hagar y Alex Van Halen y producido por Mick Jones, Donn Landee, Eddie Van Halen, MIchael Anthony, Sammy Hagar y Alex Van Halen. Fue lanzado como single principal del álbum “5150” el 26 de Febrero de 1986, llegando al N° 3 en USA, según Billboard. Además fue N° 1 en el USA Album Rock Tracks, N° 8 en Alemania, N° 11 en Suecia, N° 15 en Holanda y N° 32 en Nueva Zelanda. Tres décadas después, siempre existe un motivo para escuchar esta buena canción. Disfrútala.

2.-  BURNING HEART (Survivor).- Una de las sagas más exitosas en el cine ha sido la de Rocky, con el personaje del boxeador Rocky Balboa. En 1982, para la película “Rocky III”, tuvo como tema principal el mega hit “Eye Of The Tiger” del grupo norteamericano Survivor. A fines de 1985, se estrenó la cuarta entrega de la saga, “Rocky IV” y una vez más, contó con Survivor para la interpretación de la canción principal, cuyo título fue “Burning Heart”. Aunque en este tema, la interpretación estuvo a cargo del que era su nuevo vocalista, el desaparecido Jimi Jamison.  La canción fue escrita y producida por Jim Peterik y Frankie Sullivan e incluida en el soundtrack del film “ROCKY IV”. Fue lanzada como single el 1° Noviembre de 1985, pero alcanzaría el éxito en el verano de 1986, llegando al N° 2 en USA, según Billboard, por 2 semanas. Además fue N° 1 en el Eurochart Hot 100 y Suiza, N° 2 en Holanda, Francia e Irlanda, N° 5 en UK y Suecia, N° 6 en Alemania y Austria y N° 11 en el USA Album Rock Tracks. La letra trata sobre una batalla del tipo “todo o nada”, que fue inspirada en la Guerra Fría, que se ve reflejado en la película con la pelea entre Rocky y el ruso Ivan Drago. 30 años después, vale la pena recordar este buen tema de película.
