HACE 30 AÑOS (1986-XIII)

Llegamos al tercer miércoles del mes de Agosto, y en esta semana me corresponde presentarte el segmento musical de 1986, hace 30 años, cuando quien escribe contaba con 23 años. Para el día de hoy, he querido elegir para ti dos muy buenas canciones de la recordada banda norteamericana Bon Jovi.

1.-  LIVING ON A PRAYER (Bon Jovi).-  En la segunda mitad de la década de 80, una de las bandas que alcanzó un enorme éxito, tanto en los charts como en nivel de ventas, fue Bon Jovi. Con un estilo rockero duro y con aspecto algo glam y bien a la moda ochentera, la rompieron en todo el mundo, y también aquí en nuestro medio, sus temas sonaron harto en las diversas radios locales. Y en lo personal, mi tema favorito de ellos siempre fue “Living On A Prayer”. El tema fue escrito por Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora y Desmond Child y producido por Bruce Fairbain. En principio a Jon Bon Jovi no le gustaba la grabación original del tema, pero sin embargo, Richie Sambora lo convenció de que la canción era buena y ambos la regrabaron con una nueva línea de bajo, diferente sonido de batería y el uso de una caja de voces –o talk box- para incluirla en su próximo álbum “SLIPPERY WHEN WET”. Fue lanzado como single el 31 de Octubre de 1986, llegando al N° 1 en USA, según Billboard, por 4 semanas. Además fue N° 1 en Canadá, Nueva Zelanda, Noruega y en el USA Album Rock Tracks, N° 2 en Holanda y Suecia, N° 3 en Australia y Bélgica, N° 4 en UK e Irlanda, N° 5 en Sudáfrica, N° 6 en España, N° 10 en Finlandia, N° 12 en Suiza y N° 20 en Alemania. Y en cuanto a la letra, es acerca de una pareja, Tommy y Gina, quienes luchan para mantener su relación. Han pasado ya 30 años y siempre es grato escuchar este gran tema. Disfrútalo.

2.-  YOU GIVE LOVE A BAD NAME (Bon Jovi).-  Antes del gran suceso de “Living On A Prayer”, ya Bon Jovi había alcanzado el éxito con su single antecesor, “You Give Love a Bad Name”, un tema con un estilo rockero y con harta fuerza y energía, desde el intro a capella. Ese sería el punto de partida para una muy exitosa trayectoria musical. La canción fue escrita por Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora y  Desmond Child. Originalmente fue escrita por Desmond Chiild para Bonnie Tyler bajo el título de “If You Were A Woman (And I Was A Man)” con diferente letra, pero no tuvo ningún éxito en USA ni en UK. Insatisfecho con ello, Child la reescribió con Jon Bon Jovi y Richie Sambora, siendo producida por Bruce Fairbairn. Fue lanzada como single el 23 de Julio de 1986, llegando al N° 1 en USA, según Billboard, el 29 de Noviembre de 1986. Además fue N° 2 en Canadá y Holanda, N° 4 en Bélgica, N° 6 en Finlandia, N° 7 en Nueva Zelanda, N° 9 en el USA Album Rock Tracks, N° 14 en UK y Suecia, N° 15 en Sudáfrica, N° 21 en Irlanda, N° 25 en Austria, N° 31 en España y N° 32 en Australia. 30 años después, vale la pena evocar esta buena canción.
