HACE 20 AÑOS (1996-I)

Llegamos al último miércoles del mes de Mayo, y es momento de presentarte el primer segmento musical de 1996, hace 20 años, cuando quien escribe tenía 33 años. Hace 5 años, 1996 estuvo presente en el blog en el segmento musical de “Hace 15 años”, y como no son muchos los temas en esta sección musical, habrá tres segmentos musicales a lo largo de este 2016. Para el día de hoy, he querido elegir para ti, dos buenos temas de dos recordados grupos británicos.  

1.-  BECAUSE YOU LOVED ME (Celine Dion).-  Tras sus exitosos hits en 1994 y 1995 con los temas “The Power Of Love” y “Think Twice”, la cantante canadiense Celine Dion continuó por la misma senda exitosa con su single “Because You Loved Me”, una muy bella balada interpretada con harto feeling por Celine. Recuerdo mucho que aquí en nuestro medio, fue ampliamente difundida en Telestereo en el programa “Tú, Yo y Mis Discos” de mi recordada amiga Diana García. El tema fue escrito por Diane Warren, como un tributo a su padre y fue producido por David Foster. Fue lanzado como primer single del álbum “FALLING INTO YOU” el 20 de Febrero de 1996 en USA, Sudamérica y Asia, llegando al N° 1 en USA por 6 semanas. También fue lanzado en Australia en Abril de 1996 y en Europa en Mayo del 96 y se convirtió en un hit en todo el mundo. Además fue N° 1 en el USA Adult Contemporary Charts por 19 semanas, en Australia por 3 semanas y en Canadá por 1 semana, N° 2 en Irlanda, N° 3 en Suiza y Nueva Zelanda, N° 4 en Holanda y Escocia, N° 5 en UK y Bélgica, N° 6 en el European Hot 100 Singles, N° 8 en Dinamarca, N° 1 3 en Alemania, N° 18 en Austria, N° 19 en Francia y N° 24 en Suecia. Fue el tema principal del film “Close & Personal” –protagonizado por Robert Redford y Michelle Pfeiffer-, pero sin embargo, no fue incluida en la banda sonora del film. Finalmente, ganó un Grammy como Mejor Canción Escrita Específicamente para un film. Han transcurrido 20 años, y siempre es grato escuchar ésta muy hermosa balada. Disfrútalo.

2.-  I LOVE YOU ALWAYS FOREVER (Donna Lewis).- Allá por 1996, recuerdo haber escuchado esta canción en Doble Nueve, pero no dieron el dato del título del tema y quien lo interpretaba. Pero de algo que estaba bien seguro era de lo mucho que me gustaba por su muy buen ritmo melódico y la impecable interpretación de la dama que la cantaba. Y cuando hace algunos meses, estuve revisando canciones para ser incluidas en este segmento musical, me di con la sorpresa de encontrar ésta muy buena canción, cuyo título era “I Love You Always Forever” y cantado por la galesa Donna Lewis. La canción fue escrita por Donna Lewis y producida por Donna Lewis y Kevin Killen. Fue lanzada como single principal del álbum “NOW IN A MINUTE” el 14 de Mayo de 1996, llegando al N° 2 en USA por 9 semanas, según Billboard. Además fue N° 1 en el Canada Adult Contemporary Tracks, N° 2 en el USA Adult Contemporary Charts y Australia, N° 3 en Austria, Canadá, Irlanda y Noruega, N° 5 en Francia y UK, N° 6 en Suiza, N° 7 en Alemania, N° 9 en Nueva Zelanda, N° 10 en Bélgica, N° 16 en Suecia y N° 19 en Holanda. 20 años después, es momento de disfrutar escuchando este muy buen recuerdo.
