MIS CANCIONES FAVORITAS: HACE 30 AÑOS (1986-VIII)

Continuamos con el segmento musical de 1986 de este mes de Mayo, hace 30 años, que iniciamos ayer y para el día de hoy, he querido escoger para ti dos grandes canciones del gran Peter Gabriel

1.-  SLEDGEHAMMER (Peter Gabriel).-  Hace 30 años, Peter Gabriel la rompió en todo el mundo con su álbum “SO”, y particularmente con el tema “Sledgehammer”.Aquí en nuestro medio, recuerdo que sonó bastante en Radio Doble Nueve y en menor grado, en algunas radios locales, y su video fue bastante difundido en el recordado canal 33 de UHF. El video rompió esquemas por su innovadora animación y fue todo un boom. El tema fue escrito por Peter Gabriel y producido por Peter Gabriel y Daniel Lanois. Fue lanzado como single el 25 de Abril de 1986, llegando al N° 1 en USA; según Billboard, siendo su mayor hit en USA. Además fue N° 1 en Canadá por 4 semanas, y en el USA Album Rock Tracks por 2 semanas, N° 2 Austria, N° 3 en Australia, Irlanda, Nueva Zelanda, Sudáfrica y Noruega, N° 4 en UK, Suiza y Finlandia, N° 6 en Holanda, N° 7 en Alemania y Bélgica, N° 8 en Italia y N° 9 en Suecia. En cuanto al video clip del tema, ganó nueve MTV Video Awards en 1987 y también fue Mejor Video Británico en los Brit Awards de 1987. 30 años después, siempre es grato recordar esta buena canción y ver este excelente video. 2.-  IN YOUR EYES (Peter Gabriel).-  Del album “SO”, se extrajeron varios singles, y uno de ellos fue la muy buena canción “In Your Eyes”, de un muy buen ritmo melódico. Fue escrita por Peter Gabriel y producida por Peter Gabriel, Bill Laswell y Daniel Lanois. Fue lanzada como single en USA el 2 de Setiembre de 1986, llegando al N° 26 en USA, según Billboard. Además fue N° 1 el USA Album Rock Tracks, y no fue lanzado como single en UK. Contó con la participación de Youssou N'Dour en algunos coros. Finalmente, el tema figuró en el film “Say Anything …” de 1989. Luego de 35 años, es bueno volver a escuchar este buen tema. Disfrútalo.
