THE GUV'NOR: EL TRIBUTO DE BRIAN A JEFF BECK

Segundo lunes del mes de Marzo, y como lunes queenero, corresponde presentarte el segmento musical dedicado a tema solista de un miembro de QUEEN. En esta oportunidad, le toca el turno a Brian May y tendremos una canción más proveniente del buen álbum “ANOTHER WORLD” y que en mi opinión personal, es uno de los mejores temas de dicho álbum: “The Guv’nor”. Esta canción era una especie de tributo de Brian hacia Jeff Beck, quien era además su guitarrista favorito e intervino en la grabación del tema tocando la guitarra y demostrado su protagonismo. Definitivamente, tiene bastante rock y está cargado de buenos riffs de guitarra.

“The Guv’nor” fue escrita y producida por Brian May, quien además de la guitarra y coros, tocó los teclados en el tema. Además contó con la participación de Cozy Powell en la batería y Jeff Back en la guitarra. Fue incluida como álbum track del “ANOTHER WORLD”, el cual fue lanzado el 1° de Junio de 1998 en UK y el 15 de Setiembre de 1998 en USA. En una entrevista en 1998 para “Guitarist”, Brian indicó: “Fue una gran experiencia. El es un gran guitarrista y un real héroe, así que hay un poco de reserva de mi parte de nuevo. Esa canción tiene unos pocos significados, pero parecía que sería divertido enfocarlo ligeramente, así que es acerca de Jeff también. Porque él es como el “Gobernador”, ¿no lo es? Pero él está arriba y abajo y solo hay ciertos momentos donde él siente que puede hacerlo. Hicimos una temprana toma, la cual realmente pensé que estaba buena, pero él quería hacer otra, y luego, 18 meses después, la hizo en su propio lugar y finalmente conseguí ese material para mezclarlo casi un día antes de ir a terminar el álbum. El es increíble. Nadie toca como él; él puede tomar cualquier guitarra y aún sonar como Jeff Beck”. Finalmente, en lo que concierne a su performance en vivo, quizás por el hecho de ser algo muy personal de Brian, nunca fue interpretado por Brian en los shows de la gira del “ANOTHER WORLD”. Aunque pienso que hubiera sido muy interesante que Brian tocara este tema, teniendo a Jeff Beck como invitado. Hasta el próximo mes de Abril en donde tendremos un tema solista de Freddie Mercury del álbum “MR. BAD GUY”. Será hasta el lunes 11 de Abril. Hasta entonces.
