MIS CANCIONES FAVORITAS: HACE 25 AÑOS (1986-V)

Nos toca presentar un segmento musical más de 1986, hace ya 25 años, cuando el que escribe contaba con 23 años de edad. Y para este mes de mayo, tenemos a dos grupos que destacaron en ese lejano año 86 con dos canciones exitosas.

1.- HIP TO BE SQUARE (Huey Lewis & The News).- Uno de los grupos que destacó nítidamente en la primera mitad de la década del 80 fue Huey Lewis & The News. Con su estilo rockanrollero fresco y con mucha energía, triunfó en 1982 con "Do You Believe In Love" y en 1984 con el album "SPORTS", con buenas canciones como "Heart & Soul", "I Want A new Drug" o"If This Is It". En 1985 llegó con la canción "The Powe Of Love" del film "Back To The Future" y para 1986, su primer single fue "Stuck With You", una melodía bastante rítmica y que fue todo un éxito a nivel mundial. Pero, si hubo una canción que me gustó mucho en ese año fue sin duda, "Hip To Be Square".

Escrita por Bill Gibson, Sean Hopper y Huey Lewis, fue incluida en el multiplatino album "FORE!" y fue el 2º single de dicho album. Fue Nº 3 en USA, según Billboard, Nº 1 en el Billboard Album Rock Tracks, Nº 20 en el Billboard Adult Contemporary Tracks, Nº 17 en Australia y Nº 41 en UK. Veinticinco años después, la volvemos a recordar en el presente post.

2.- DUEL (Propaganda).- En 1986 hubo una canción que comenzó a sonar con fuerza en las radios, pero no se sabía ni el título de la canción ni quien la interpretaba. La voz de la cantante no era conocida, pero era un tema muy bueno, con bastante ritmo y estilo moderno y elegante. Luego supe que se trataba del tema "Duel" y que era de un grupo llamada Propaganda, banda alemana con la cantante Claudia Brucken. Y al poco tiempo, pude ver el video clip de la canción y eso contribuyó bastante a su éxito local y que fuese difundida bastante en las emisoras de radio locales y hasta era infaltable en las discotecas de la época.

Escrita por Claudia Brücken, Ralf Dörper y Michael Mertens, estuvo incluida en el primer album del grupo, "A SECRET WISH" y originalmente fue lanzada en UK el 7 de abril de 1985, llegando al Nº 21 y siendo su single más exitoso allí. Fue también Nº 3 en Italia, Nº 5 en Holanda y Nº 30 en Alemania. Y aquí fue una de las canciones de mayor éxito en aquel lejano año 1986. Y hemos querido evocarla en el blog, recordando aquellas buenas épocas ochenteras.
