MIS CANCIONES FAVORITAS: HACE 20 AÑOS (1995-IV)

Llegamos al cuarto y último miércoles del mes de Julio, y como es costumbre, hoy toca presentar el segmento musical bimensual dedicado al año 1995, hace 20 años. En esta oportunidad, he querido elegir dos muy buenos temas provenientes de dos recordadas cantantes femeninas.

1.-  YOU OUGHTA KNOW (Alanis Morisettte).- Si hubo una cantante femenina que brilló por todo lo alto en 1995 y que la rompió en todo el mundo, fue indudablemente la canadiense Alanis Morissette. Y específicamente con la canción “You Oughta Know”, la cual se convirtió en un hit en todo el mundo y catapultó a Alanis como la figura representativa de una generación. El tema tenía ritmo, energía y fuerza, pero sobre todo, sobresalía la interpretación de la Morissette, quien cantaba desde las entrañas y con toda la fuerza y emoción del mundo. La canción fue escrita por Alanis Morissette y Glen Ballard y producida por Glen Ballard. Y contó con la participación de Flea y Dave Navarro del grupo Red Hot Chili Peppers en la guitarra y bajo, respectivamente. Fue lanzada como single principal del álbum “JAGGED LITTLE PILL” el 7 de Julio de 1985 y fue la primera canción en su cambio del pop bubblegum al sonido de rock alternativo por el cual se hizo conocida en todo el mundo, llegando al N° 6 en USA, según Billboard. Además fue N° 1 en USA Modern Rock Tracks por 5 semanas, N° 3 en el USA Album Rock Tracks, N° 4 en Australia, N° 17 en Holanda, N° 20 en Canadá, N° 22 en UK, N° 25 en Nueva Zelanda, N° 38 en Suecia y N° 39 en Bélgica. En una entrevista en el 2008, Alanis reiteró su negativa a identificar al sujeto a quien iba dirigida la canción, y dijo: “Bueno, nunca he hablado sobre quién trata mis canciones y no lo haré, porque cuando las escribo, son escritas en nombre de la expresión personal. Así que con todo respeto a quienes se vean a sí mismos en mis canciones, y eso sucede todo el tiempo, realmente nunca comento sobre ello porque escribo las canciones para mí misma, no para otra gente”. Por último, la canción ganó dos premios Grammy como Mejor Canción Rock y Mejor Performance Vocal Rock Femenina. 20 años después, es bueno recordar esta gran canción.

2.-  TAKE A BOW (Madonna).-  Sin ser un fan a ultranza de Madonna, reconozco que tiene buenas canciones, y una de ellas, es la hermosa balada titulada “Take A Bow”. Desde que la escuché hace 20 años, me gustó mucho por su muy bella melodía, y recuerdo que aquí en nuestro medio tuvo regular difusión en diversas emisoras de radio locales y su video fue bien visto en los programas musicales de TV en ese entonces. El tema fue escrito y producido por Madonna y Babyface, quien colabora en los coros. Fue lanzado como segundo single del álbum “BEDTIME STORIES” el 28 de Octubre de 1994, llegando al N° 1 en USA, según Billboard, el 25 de febrero de 1995 por 7 semanas. Además fue N° 1 en Canadá y en el US Billboard Adult Contemporary Charts, N° 2 en Italia, N° 8 en Suiza, N° 9 en Nueva Zelanda, N° 13 en Noruega, N° 14 en Escocia, N° 15 en Australia, N° 16 en UK, N° 17 en Irlanda, N° 18 en Alemania, N° 19 en Suecia y Bélgica, N° 22 en Austria, N° 25 en Francia y N° 34 en Holanda. Y en cuanto al video clip del tema, fue dirigido por Michael Haussman y filmado en Ronda, en la Plaza de Antequera, España, junto con el torero Emilio Muñoz, y ganó un MTV Video Awards como Mejor Video Femenino. Dos décadas han pasado y es momento de escuchar esta buena canción de Madonna.

Este ha sido el cuarto segmento musical de 1995. Espero que estas dos buenas canciones hayan sido de su agrado, y como siempre, los espero con sus visitas y comentarios.
